Three-Year Headline Partnership for Pride Cymru and Prinicipality Building Society

Pride Cymru has announced a three-year main stage sponsorship deal with Principality Building Society.

The renewed partnership comes after the mutual success of 2023, the first year of collaboration. Pride Cymru is a not-for-profit event organised by volunteer members of the LGBTQ+ community from across Wales.

Principality Building Society has the largest high street brand presence of any bank or building society in Wales, with 53 branches and 14 agencies across Welsh high streets and the border.

The partnership will see Principality staff at the heart of the mile-long Pride parade in Cardiff and with prominent branding across the site and main stage.

Gian Molinu, Chair of Pride Cymru said:

“We’re delighted to announce this long-term partnership. There is real clear synergy between how we operate: we’re both exclusively for the benefit of the communities we serve. Over the last year, Principality’s vibrant LGBTQ+ network has worked closely with senior management to deliver a series of great events, promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion. We thank everyone at Principality Building Society for their continued commitment and their allyship”.

Vicky Wales, Chief Customer Officer at Principality Building Society, said:

“We’re really pleased to be celebrating another year as headline sponsors of Pride Cymru, as we remember the movement’s 25 year-strong history of campaigning for equality of diversity within Wales. We are eagerly awaiting the opportunity for our growing Pride Network, colleagues, family and friends to join the parade on the streets of Cardiff, for what promises to be a fantastic display of solidarity and joy.”

Pride Cymru has been an annual and growing event since the first Cardiff Mardi Gras, held in 1999. More than 50,000 people interacted with Pride Cymru in 2023, generating an estimated £1.2 million in economic activity in Cardiff over the course of the weekend.
