Swansea University Bay Campus Embraces Local Supplier

Red Letter Day for Local Company After Partnership with New University Campus

A local company that provides high tech, bespoke and secure letterboxes throughout the UK and worldwide with high profile projects such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, is completing the final touches of its work at the student accommodation at the new Swansea University Bay Campus.

Placed inconspicuously in the background, many will not notice the 242 mailboxes that have been designed in the current Swansea University branding, sitting in mailroom of the new accommodation building. A significant amount of time and effort has gone into ensuring the mailboxes were suitable and ready for the campus’ first ever students.

Staff from The Safety Letterbox Company, the UK’s leading manufacturer of secure mailing systems, worked very closely with campus’ project architects, working on the building to design a bespoke collection for the exciting new development.

Alison Orrells, managing director of The Safety Letterbox Company, said:

“It is not very often we work on commercial projects within Wales, so to be a part of such a fantastic new development is very exciting for us. We regularly carry out work at universities across the UK, but this one will always be a bit special.

“As a Welsh company that provides services around the world, being able to work on such an innovative project locally is something we are really passionate about and proud to be a part of.”

Michael Kavanagh, senior commercial manager at VINCI Construction UK, said:

“The Safety Letterbox Company worked with us on the new prestigious development at the ‘Bay Campus’ for Swansea University. It provided a full and comprehensive range of services including an initial site survey, product development, product samples, CAD drawings, manufacturing and installation of the mailboxes.

“Whilst working with the design, commercial and installation teams, I found the Safety Letterbox Company to be professional and helpful at all times, and together we evolved the original basic design of 113 standard mailboxes into a final offering of 242 multi-coloured tailored mailboxes within the same room space. All mailboxes were manufactured to suit the end user’s requirements, including specific dimensions, colours, name plating and key types.

“The Safety Letterbox Company delivered and installed everything safely, on time and within budget constraints. In my opinion, the service and support offered by the Safety Letterbox Company on this project has been second to none.”
