Mobilise, a Swansea-based cloud enablement consultancy, is offering free Amazon Web Services (AWS) certification training to workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and those from underrepresented backgrounds.

The training will be offered to 40 members of the AWS South Wales User Group as part of the Get AWS Certified Global Challenge, an initiative aimed at encouraging people to learn new skills in IT and gain an industry-recognised credential.

The business will offer vouchers to participants allowing them to take the final certification exam for free after they complete a free online training course provided by AWS before the 30th November. The final exam normally costs $100.

The Get AWS Certified Global Challenge will help participants from around the world to become certified cloud practitioners, and will help them develop their understanding of how cloud impacts business, core AWS services, billing and pricing models, and security concepts.

James Carnie, CTO at Mobilise said:

“We are really pleased to be supporting the Get AWS Certified Global Challenge. Gaining industry-recognised certifications will have a positive impact on both salary and employability for participants, so this is a worthwhile scheme to be involved in..

“This has been a particularly difficult year for many people, so we want to be able to support workers in our industry by helping them to diversify and strengthen their skillset. Members of the Mobilise team will be also be acting as mentors, and we’re looking forward to sharing our insight and expertise with the next generation of IT experts in South Wales.

“There’s not long to go until the final deadline, so we’d urge anyone who’s interested to get in touch to find out more.”

Those who want to take advantage of the offer can do so by becoming a member of the AWS South Wales User Group, and registering for the Get AWS Certified Global Challenge before November 30th 2020. For more information, contact [email protected].
