Cardiff’s newest care home, set to open next year, has marked its latest construction milestone with the help of special guests.   

The Care UK team and representatives from specialist design and build partners, Carter Lauren Construction, were joined by Councillor Graham Hinchey, The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, and his wife Anne Hinchey, The Lady Mayoress of Cardiff, who both placed the final tile on the roof of the new care home – which will be called Llys Herbert – on Ty-Draw Road.

The purpose-built care home – which is expected to welcome the first residents in August 2023 – will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 75 older people, with facilities including its own cinema, hair salon, café and landscaped gardens.

When complete, the care home will boost the provision of quality residential care for up to 75 older people in Cardiff and beyond, as well as creating jobs for local people.

We can’t wait to give Councillor Graham Hinchey and his wife the grand tour once the home is complete.”

Councillor Graham Hinchey said:

“I was delighted to take part in this special topping out ceremony. This is an important milestone in the construction of a new care home in Cardiff, which will bring to our city an excellent purpose-built facility for local residents. Anne and I will be following its progress with interest and look forward to next year’s official opening.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, is set to open in September next year. The spacious home will allow for plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities.
