South Wales Metro Project Picks Up Speed

The ambitious South Wales Metro public transport project gathered significant momentum this week with media reports confirming that the procurement process for the construction of the scheme and the running of the next Wales and Borders rail franchise should begin shortly.

Transport consultancy Mott MacDonald has been appointed to advise Transport for Wales – the new body set up by the Welsh Government to deliver the Metro – on procurement.

The first element of the multimillion-pound project will be the electrification of the Valley Lines.
