Next Generation Data (NGD), operator of Europe’s largest data centre, has announced the appointment of Justin Jenkins as Managing Director.

Originally from Swansea and now living in Cardiff, Justin brings a wealth of IT and data centre industry experience including ten years at NGD where as part of the senior management team he previously served as Data Centre Director, CTO and latterly COO. Prior to joining NGD Justin held posts with a number of Entrepreneurial Technology Businesses, and previously was with Sony Computer Entertainment for several years in a variety of IT and Infrastructure roles.

Commenting on his appointment Justin Jenkins said:

“I am very excited by the new challenges that come with the expanded remit of Managing Director. NGD began ten years ago with a vast empty 750,000 sq ft building in South Wales. We have succeeded in transforming it into Europe’s largest data centre facility, capable of meeting and exceeding the demands of a growing list of blue chip enterprise organisations and hyperscale cloud providers. Along the way we have proved the business model for large out of town data centres while at the same time raising the bar for data centre resilience, security, environmental and operational excellence. I look forward to taking the business forward to the next level.”

“We are delighted by Justin’s promotion,” said Simon Taylor, NGD’s Co-founder and Executive Chairman. “Over the years Justin’s exceptional technical and engineering talents have played a crucial role in making NGD the world class mega data centre facility it is today. Justin knows the business inside out and his appointment is in line with our aggressive growth strategy. The Board has total confidence in the additional valuable contributions he will make as NGD’s Managing Director.”
