Swansea accountancy firm, Morgan Hemp, has expanded its operations by acquiring Owen John & Co, cementing its position as a leading choice of accountants for SMEs.

Chartered, certified accountants, Morgan Hemp, has bought the business after its MD, Ian Bevan-Jones, decided to retire.

Morgan Hemp director, Richard Morgan, says:

“I’m delighted to see Morgan Hemp take on Owen John & Co, a well-respected and long-established company with a similar ethos to our own – offering an approachable, practical, jargon-free service that is particularly valued by SMEs.

“I am pleased to welcome the Owen John & Co team of four to the Morgan Hemp fold, in Walter Road, and we look forward to working together to continue to provide the best possible service to our long-standing and our new clients.”

Ian Bevan-Jones, MD at Owen John & Co, which was based for over 70 years in Swansea’s Wind Street, said:

“It was important to me to see the company, one of Swansea’s oldest established accountancy firms which has been practicing since the turn of the 20th Century, taken on by a local and well-established firm with the time, resources and ability to continue to deliver a personal, face-to face service that best serves my clients. I wish them continued success and I am grateful for the support, over the years, of my very loyal clients and staff.”

Morgan Hemp has been in business in Swansea for more than 35 years, currently employing 23 staff. Ian will work alongside the Morgan Hemp team for at least a year to ensure a smooth transition period.
