S3 Advertising’s CEO Appointed Communications Director for Welsh Amateur Boxing Board

S3 Advertising’s CEO, Matt Jones’ year continues to go from strength-to-strength, following his appointment as the new Communications Director for the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association.

Matt’s appointment forms part of a significant reshuffle of the association’s board members, and will see him provide leadership and strategic direction focusing on the vision, core values and objectives of the WABA (Welsh Amateur Boxing Association).

“There are no words to describe what this means to me,” said Matt. “Boxing has always been a massive part of my life, so to be asked to fill this role is an incredible honour.”

Formed in 1910, WABA’s mission is to develop and promote amateur boxing in Wales. With 113 clubs across the country, the organisation aims to grow participation within the sport, driving it forward from grass roots levels within all Welsh communities.

Working alongside other board members – including newly-elected chairman, Derek McAndrew –  Matt will be responsible for building effective relationships with external partners, as well as monitoring the association’s performance, financial expenditure, risk and resource allocation.

Of the appointment, Alasdair McIntyre, Interim Chief Operating Officer at WABA, said:

“Matt was the standout candidate for the Communications Director role, not only for his obvious strategic capabilities but also the passion he demonstrated for the sport.

“His infectious personality came across to all the members who voted for him to be appointed on a two-year term. We genuinely look forward to welcoming Matt and getting on with creating a stronger and better-looking organisation.”

When he is not busy running S3 or spending time with his family, Matt can often be found in the gym, incorporating boxing training into his fitness regime.

“I don’t think there is any other sport out there that teaches values such as hard work, discipline and control in the same way boxing does,” said Matt.

He concluded:

“Not only do WABA provide the opportunity for its members to harness these values, they also use boxing as a vehicle for Welsh people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to make something of their lives. To be able to be part of an organisation that creates such a positive impact in this manner, is truly humbling.”
