Injury and medical negligence lawyers at a leading North Wales law firm have had a record year.

The specialist team at Gamlins Law recovered more than £1.2million in damages for clients in the year to the end of March.

The firm’s solicitors have handled cases including fatal road traffic accidents, some involving cyclists, brain injuries, serious and life changing orthopaedic injuries, psychiatric injuries, delay in cancer diagnoses and care home and hospital abuse.

Kate Sutherland, Head of the Injury and Medical Negligence Department and a Gamlins Law director, said:

“Injuries from accidents or medical negligence can have life changing effects on clients as well as their families.

“They need close support and guidance to secure compensation to assist them through often difficult, stressful and worrying times.

“A family’s finances can be severely impacted where the injured person is not able to work.”

The Gamlins Law team regularly secures damages to assist in a number of ways, including ensuring future private care, future private treatment costs and new accommodation costs.

They have also represented families at inquests for injuries and in medical negligence cases where fatalities occurred at hospital or shortly after discharge.

Kate, a fluent Welsh speaker, is extremely active in the North Wales community. Along with colleague, and Head of Employment Law, Elissa Thursfield, she set up Ladies that Lunch to bring together women in local businesses.

She is also Chair of Governors at Denbigh High School and is a contributor to BBC Radio Cymru on legal and educational matters.

She added:

“Everyone at Gamlins Law is committed to playing an active role in our local communities, both in and out of work.

“The work we do in the injury and medical negligence department is an important part of this, championing the needs of our clients when they most need it.”

Gamlins Law has six offices in Rhyl, Abergele, Denbigh, Holywell, Ruthin and Mold. The firm celebrates its 130th anniversary in 2019.
