A Newport networking club is looking forward to a vibrant future after rebranding as Uno and moving to larger premises to accommodate growth.

The club, known for the last 13 years as Action Business Club, is re-launching as Uno, which is Welsh for ‘unite’ or ‘belong’.

The rebrand represents a new direction for the business breakfast club, which has 33 full and associate members and has been known throughout the Welsh business networking world as ABC for 13 years.

The rebrand will see Uno bring new and existing businesses together at their weekly meetings at the Tiny Rebel brewery in Rogerstone.

Chair Wayne Evans said:

“Uno means ‘to unite’ in Welsh, which is exactly what we do. We’ve chosen the name to reflect that Welsh speaking businesses and learners will find a warm ‘croeso’ at our meetings, and because the pronunciation is a talking point and will help people remember us.

“We are a very friendly but business-orientated club, which has benefited companies and business owners we have worked with to the tune of many thousands of pounds. Uno is striving for excellence in helping small and medium sized businesses achieve their very best in connecting these organisations with potential partner companies.

“Uno is not part of a franchise but a purely single-minded group of business people who want the best for our colleagues and the organisation itself.”

Founder member Andrew Mathias said:

“Over the years, members have developed a powerful ethos of friendship and helping others. Our new name and brand reflect these values and we’re looking forward to welcoming new members and guests who would like to see for themselves how our club works.”

Uno also works with a number of nominated charities including MIND Cymru and Ty Hafan, the hospice for children in Wales. Both have made incredible presentations about their work to the group in recent weeks.

Uno has members from a wide range of industries and professions, with those who join able to choose from full membership and the opportunity to attend weekly, or associate membership, attending once a month. Uno meets every Thursday at 7am and guests are welcome.
