PwC in the West and Wales region has welcomed its latest cohort of 82 young recruits.
The new graduates and school leavers in the professional services firm’s Bristol and Cardiff offices takes the number of people working in the region to 860 – a 10.5% rise on 2018.
PwC has more expansion plans for the South West and Wales; some of the firm’s key cyber security experts are based in South Wales, and a further 25 people will be recruited to this team over the next two years.
The firm was also recently named the number-one private-sector organisation for graduates for the 16th straight year by The Times, and top of the Accountancy, Actuarial, and Consulting categories. Applications for its graduate programme increased by 73% in the last academic year.
John-Paul Barker, Regional Leader for PwC’s West and Wales practice, commented:
“These students studied a variety of degrees at different universities right across the country, which goes to show how diverse our workforce is. We also welcome a growing number of students joining us straight from their A-Levels. Last year, 57% of student hires into the region were women.
“We hope this shows that what's most important to PwC is that someone is the right fit for us and vice versa, that this is a place where engaged, talented and hardworking people can get on, irrespective of where or what they studied.
“I am a great believer in being able to create opportunity for people in this region and our expansion plans over the next few years will ensure we remain a draw for the best people – like the 82 we have just hired.”
