Popham Kidney Support’s flagship Annual Awards Dinner, which celebrates the important work of the charity, its supporters and volunteers over the past 12 months, has raised £2,000 for the charity.

The event, which took place at Morgans Hotel, Swansea, also functions as a fundraiser. The money raised will help provide emotional, physical, and financial support to children, young people, adults, and their families affected by kidney disease across Wales. It will also contribute to Popham Kidney Support’s £132,000 goal for the refurbishment of the Children's Kidney Centre at Cardiff & Vale University Hospital.

The Awards were hosted by Sian Lloyd, the charity’s ambassador and Welsh TV personality. They recognised the work of individuals who have played a crucial role in supporting the charity’s fundraising and mentoring efforts over the past year. Co-host Kev Johns, the Swansea legend and fellow ambassador, led the raffle and auction, where guests won and bid on a variety of exciting prizes.

Among the attendees were The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of the City and County of Swansea, Councillor Paxton Hood-Williams, and Lady Mayoress, Patricia Hood-Williams.

The sponsors of the sold-out event were DWJ Wealth Management Ltd and Prescott Jones, with Seren Global Media as media partners.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a three-course meal accompanied by entertainment from local DJ Connor Thomas.

Joanne Popham, CEO of Popham Kidney Support, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled with the success of our Annual Awards Dinner and want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported the charity – none of this would be possible without you.

“A special thank you to Morgans Hotel and its wonderful staff for their hospitality and support in hosting the event, and to all the sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made the evening such a huge success.

“The funds raised will go towards renovating the Children's Kidney Centre in Cardiff, having a profound impact on the lives of those affected by kidney disease and their families. It will also allow us to continue our vital work supporting the kidney community. A massive thank you to the local community for your ongoing support.”

Sian Lloyd, Popham Kidney Support Ambassador, said:

“It was an absolute pleasure to once again support Popham Kidney Support's Annual Awards. What a fantastic evening of fundraising for a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart, and one I am proud to represent as an ambassador.

“The generosity on display was truly inspiring. Congratulations to all the winners and to the charity for hosting such a successful event. I wish them continued success in reaching their ambitious goals. I'm confident that the funds raised will make a real and lasting impact on the lives of those affected by kidney disease and their families.”
