The number of passengers satisfied with their rail journey is at a new high for Wales’ leading train operator according to new survey results published today by Government funded watchdog Transport Focus.

The National Rail Passenger Survey (NRPS), conducted twice a year from a representative sample of journeys, has revealed that overall passenger satisfaction for Arriva Trains Wales (ATW) services has increased to 89%, a five percentage point rise on the same period this time last year (Spring 2014) and 8% above the Great Britain average (for train operating companies (TOCs).

The latest wave of results means that out of the 23 TOCs in Britain, ATW is now ranked joint seventh in terms of rail passenger satisfaction. Furthermore, ATW has also been highlighted as the best performing train operator in Britain during the period 1st April – 2nd May when it comes to “Right Time Performance”** with a figure of 86.6%. Right-time performance measures the percentage of trains arriving at their terminating station early or within 59 seconds of schedule.
