GlobalWelsh, Wales’ worldwide diaspora community, announces that Odgers Berndtson, the leading global executive search company, has become the latest organisation to become a GlobalWelsh Founding Patron.

The company joins the Welsh Rugby Union, Blue Stag, Bangor University and The Development Bank of Wales, as well as an array of world class Welsh diaspora, to be the latest organisation to invest in GlobalWelsh’s mission to find, connect and engage Welsh diaspora around the world.

Odgers Berndtson, which has offices in over 30 countries around the world including one in Cardiff, established 10 years ago, specialises in finding UK wide and international talent for executive and non-executive positions across private, public and not-for-profit sectors. On the new partnership, Jemma Terry, Managing Partner of Odgers Berndtson Wales, herself a returning Welsh diaspora, said:

“As a global organisation focused on connecting people, we are familiar with the challenges and opportunities that bringing people together creates; bringing together Wales’ global network presents a seismic opportunity for Wales.

‘At Odgers, we feel passionately that Wales is a fantastic destination for world class talent; it’s a great place to live, work and play. By telling this story, we have attracted senior executives from Australia, Singapore, Canada, the US and Europe to work in Wales. Our values are truly aligned with those of GlobalWelsh and we are proud and delighted to be a part of this journey.”

GlobalWelsh is a privately-funded community interest company which, since its launch in 2017, has connected diaspora in 42 countries around the world, and growing. It engages this network to run initiatives focused on bringing inward investment and opportunity to Wales. Walter May, GlobalWelsh CEO, said:

“The extensive research that underpins GlobalWelsh has identified that returning diaspora tend to have a disproportionate effect on a country’s success.  Moreover, there is intense global competition for entrepreneurial talent. This chimes with the values and work of Odgers Berndtson in Wales, so we’re delighted to have them on board as a Founding Patron.

‘As a grassroots, not-for-profit, organisation it’s purely through the support and generosity of our Founding Patrons and Pioneers that we’re able continue building the community and creating opportunities for members.”

GlobalWelsh is looking for a limited number of additional Founding Patrons. Individuals or organisations, whose passion, values and ambitions align with its mission to connect Welsh diaspora around the world.
