Spooktacular returns as Oakwood Theme Park’s dedicated Halloween event, with more thrills and chills than ever before.
During the first quarter of 2018 there were 19.865 million Tourism Day visits in Wales, with such visits generating over £1.1 million for the Welsh economy. Events like Oakwood’s Spooktacular continue to drive domestic tourism and ultimately increase this figure year on year.
With eight dates to choose from, including the late night Spooktacular Bites Back on 27th October, there is great fun for all the family. Endure the Halloween scare mazes including Witch Hunt, Harvest and 2017’s most popular maze: HideRun. You can even ride some of the rollercoasters in the dark such as Megafobia, Drenched, The Creepy Crawler and Bobsleigh at Spooktacular Bites Back.
We sent Beth, our Editorial Assistant, to test out the attractions…
Oakwood’s newest attraction Witch Hunt opened in July 2018 spooking guests throughout the summer, and returns as part of the Spooktacular line up. In a world where Witches cause havoc and fear, the Witch Hunters have set up a specialist facility to screen, sedate, and transform Witches into regular human beings… but things do not go to plan, with a breakout at the facility. This walk-through scare attraction contains live actors and special effects as you try and escape from the maze. There is no minimum height requirement for this attraction, but is definitely not for the faint hearted!
This horror maze was voted the most popular Spooktacular attraction in 2017, and it’s not hard to see why. Hide Run returns in 2018 with a new layout and even more screams. Strobe lighting, smoke and live actor zombies all work against you as you try to beat the clock and escape the maze. With the special effects, dead ends and zombies, it was definitely a challenge to get out within 3 minutes! There is even a chainsaw-wielding zombie… Good luck!
Arguably the most creepy of the three mazes, Harvest returns for a second year. Set outside, shrouded in fog, you are released individually into a corn maze that is filled with live actor evil scarecrows. They lurk around corners and follow you around until you find your way out through a shed turned slaughterhouse…
Spooktacular Bites Back
A scare fest evening with the scare factor turned up a notch or two…NOT for the faint hearted! All included with usual admission so why not ride all day and scream all night!
Vertigo is also open to fly but an additional charge of £10 per person, maximum three people per ride applies. Buy tickets for Vertigo at the park.
