Stena Line's plans for a proposed new technology park at Prosperity Parc, the former Anglesey Aluminium site, have been approved by Isle of Anglesey County Council.
Outline planning permission has been secured on the 220-acre site which will include more than 220,000 sqm of data centre, industrial and office development as part of a new low-carbon campus. It will also include a battery energy storage system benefitting from the site’s existing grid connection.
Prosperity Parc is the first major site to come forward as part of Anglesey Freeport, sitting within the Freeport’s “Anglesey Prosperity Zone” tax site. Following the announcement of the approval of the Freeport’s Full Business Case, the success of the technology park’s planning application marks a major step forward in delivering on the key growth commitments of the Freeport.
At its peak, the proposals are forecast to generate up to £578 million of growth in the local economy each year, the equivalent of a third of Anglesey’s current economy, and create around 1,200 jobs. The construction phase would see a further 890 jobs created on top of supply chain opportunities.
In addition to new jobs, the project will channel targeted investment into local training, education, and skills development.

“The proposed development will help deliver significant levels of jobs and investment in the site which will drive growth and bring wider socio-economic benefits to Anglesey and North Wales.
“The application has been thoroughly assessed by the council and stakeholders to ensure it delivers meaningful social, economic and environmental benefits for the local community, and has been approved subject to a number of planning conditions.
“The full planning application will now be progressed in accordance with the statutory planning process.”
Following the granting of outline planning permission, more detailed designs, including the site’s layout, appearance, access and landscaping will come forward.
