North Powys Bridge to Close as £100,000 Repair Works Begin

A north Powys bridge will close next week for eight weeks while repair works are carried out, the county council has confirmed.

Repair works on Llandrinio Bridge will begin on Monday 25 July for eight weeks and will cost approximately £100,000.

The bridge, which is on the B4393, will be closed from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Fridays but will re-open in the evenings and at weekends with the present weight and width restrictions continuing.

As part of the works, the stonework will be repaired and repointing work will also be carried out. A weight and width restriction has been in place since December 2015 after the structure was damaged during flooding.

Cllr John Brunt, Cabinet Member for Highways, said:

“We fully appreciate the inconvenience caused by the closure of bridge but it is needed to allow the repair works to take place safely. Once the repair works are completed, the weight and width restrictions will be lifted and the bridge will be reopened to all traffic.”
