A Newport-based telecommunications firm is eyeing expansion after relocating to larger business premises.

Advanced Satellite Solutions secured a £51,720 funding package from Lombard Asset Finance to fund the development of the 1.5-acre site at West way Road Alexandra Docks, after outgrowing its temporary shared offices on the East side of the port

The finance has facilitated the installation of six modular buildings to create a fully-functioning office space on Westway Road, including an open-plan kitchen and meeting rooms. The site, which is double the size of its former premises, also has a 2000 sq ft warehouse that will accommodate increased storage for bulk-bought materials.

Following the relocation, the family-run business has recruited two additional employees to join the 31-strong team made up of 12 full time and 19 permanent contractors.

Founded by Nolan Orford in 1998, the business became limited in 2005 providing the installation and repair of Fibre Optic & network, cabling, Satellite TV solutions, CCTV and Digital signage.

Advanced Satellite Solutions has secured ongoing projects throughout Europe and the Middle East since 2010 and continues to build these partnerships. The company has secured and installed large installations for several blue-chip businesses and at the end of the financial year the business hit £2 million in turnover with predictions of £3 million by the end of next year.

Nolan Orford said:

‘I set up the business from scratch and as it has grown, our reputation for providing an excellent service has spread beyond Newport, giving us the opportunity to work with businesses globally

“The increasing volume of work has meant that we needed a new space to accommodate the increased number of staff and materials to facilitate this. Thanks to the funding from Lombard, we have been able to create an ideal office space that can house our growing team as they provide our specialist communication solutions to clients worldwide.”

Kerrie Jones, Lombard Senior Relationship Manager, said:

“Over the 10 years I have worked with Nolan, Advanced Satellite Solutions has grown its client base. With the funding we have provided, the company has been able to relocate to accommodate current and further growth, and we will continue to support the business as it expands in the future.”
