Newport Supplement Centre (NSC) recently spun into action to raise money for the homeless in Newport by donating all sales and more from its famous protein shakers.
NSC pledged all proceeds from any brand of shakers bought online and in store to go to the Eden Gate Project, based in Newport. In addition, the sports nutrition company has matched all proceeds by donation in order to make as much impact as possible. The Newport-based sports nutrition company managed to raise £638.40 in under two months.
Rachel Clarke, owner of NSC says,
“We are always happy to get involved and support local charities and initiatives. This seemed like a fantastic opportunity to help homeless people in Newport and we hope to become involved with the charity again. It’s a very worthwhile cause and it is something which matters to all of us here at Newport Supplement Centre.
“I want to thank all of our customers who really got on board with this scheme and helped us to raise money by purchasing our shakers. We’re lucky to have such a loyal customer base who are happy to get involved in things with us.”
A spokesperson from the Eden Gate project, Chris Pennant says,
“Thanks to generous support from Newport Supplement Centre and others, rough sleepers have had warm, safe places to sleep with a hot dinner and breakfast during the four coldest months. This winter, operating in partnership with 14 local churches, 967 overnight bed spaces have been provided to a total of 58 people, some for a few nights, some for longer. 26 of them have been supported by Eden Gate to be rehoused.
“We certainly do intend to continue the Night Shelter next winter. What excites me as Chairman of trustees is the number and quality help from the volunteers and the generous support from so many individuals, churches and other organisations which makes all this possible. Thank you all so much.”
