Portmeirion, the iconic hotel and tourist destination, has appointed a new hotel manager.
Ashley Redfern joins the North Wales hotel with 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He leaves his previous position as general manager of Gwesty Carreg Bran Hotel in Anglesey.
After graduating from the Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in hospitality, Ashley gained experience working in a number of top hotels including Manchester’s Double Tree Hotel by Hilton and the Accor Novotel.
“Portmeirion was always a hotel that I admired – its location, history and reputation for excellence. So, when the role of Hotel Manager came up, I knew I had to go for it. It’s an absolutely wonderful place to work and the perfect environment to develop further.”
Portmeirion is a unique hotel and private village on its own peninsula on the coast of Snowdonia in north Wales. The village overlooks the Dwyryd estuary, and is fringed by the mountains of Meirionnydd. The hotel boasts colourful Italianate architecture, which is exclusive to Portmeirion and cannot be found anywhere else. The hotel’s restaurant recently won The Food Awards Wales’ North Wales Hotel Restaurant of the Year award.
Robin Llywelyn, Portmeirion’s managing director, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Ashley to the team at Portmeirion. His impressive track record of excellence as well as his knowledge of the industry makes us sure he will do a fine job in his position as hotel manager.”
