New Date for 2024 Convention for the Western Gateway

A new date for the rescheduled 2024 Convention for the Western Gateway has been announced.

Following news of a July General Election, the Western Gateway Partnership have taken the decision to postpone the convention from July to a new date of Thursday 17th October 2024.

Sarah Williams-Gardener, Chair of the Western Gateway partnership, said:

“I am very happy to announce our new date for the Convention for the Western Gateway. Whilst this was an unexpected change, this new date provides a great opportunity to show to a future government the best of what our area has to offer.

“Our partnership is ready to show the world how we can work together to grow the UK’s future economy right here in South Wales and Western England. To be part of it, you will need a ticket – if you haven’t secured your place yet, now is the time to do so.”

The Western Gateway is the Pan-Regional Partnership for South Wales and Western England, which brings together local authorities and businesses from St David’s in Pembrokeshire to Swindon in South West England. The Convention will be a launchpad for the partnership’s new “Plan for Sustainable Growth” which will spell out how the area can attract more investment and support innovation across the next five years.

The event will feature conversations around how the area can create sustainable economic growth that can lead to a greener fairer future. It will focus on the themes of creating net zero energy, connecting communities, boosting investment, cyber and technology and protecting nature. Tickets are available on the Western Gateway’s website.

Official industry and academic partners for the Convention are due to be announced in the next couple of weeks with early speaker announcements to follow by the end of June.
