St David’s Hospice has appointed Gareth Jones as its new chief executive.
Gareth, who joined the charity last month, brings with him a wealth of experience and skills across many business functions. He has held senior positions at Handelsbanken and NatWest and has served as Chair of Cartrefi Conwy and as an Audit Committee Member for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. He said he had been “struck by the staff's unwavering dedication despite the pressure they are under to deliver first class services.”
“My first month as CEO has been a whirlwind of learning and humility”, said Gareth. “I am truly honoured to join St David’s Hospice, an organisation so close to the hearts of so many across North West Wales. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated teams, volunteers, and supporters as we navigate the challenges ahead, ensuring the Hospice remains a source of hope and comfort for those who need it most.”
St David’s Hospice delivers respite and end of live care to adults living in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. Last year the charity faced operating costs of over £6.5 million and more than 25% of this is raised through various ways including gifts in Wills, charitable donations, fundraising events, gift aid along with lottery tickets and raffles.
St David’s Hospice Chairman Richard Thomas said:
“Gareth’s expertise will be vital as we navigate a period of challenge. While the times ahead will require focus, resilience, and strong leadership, the Board is confident that Gareth's appointment marks an important step forward for our organisation.
“His breadth of experience and commitment to public service will serve St David’s Hospice well as we continue to evolve to meet the needs of our communities.”
