Neath Van Firm Delivers Food to Those in Need

With statistics showing that one in five people in the UK live below the poverty line, Christmas can be a particularly tough time for some families and many are forced to rely on local food banks and the generosity of the local community.

Wanting to do its bit to help, one local van company has literally delivered on a pledge made earlier in the year to donate one of its vehicles filled to the brim with food to the Neath Food Bank.

Low Cost Vans (LCV), a Neath-based van leasing company, partnered with Yellow Star Trading, Avon Sheeting and the local Department of Work and Pensions to fill one of its transit vans with food and drink and deliver it to the food bank.

The assortment of non-perishable foods was collected through a mixture of donations from staff, customers and passers-by as well as an initiative at LCV that meant it added a bag full of food for every vehicle it sold in November.

Zoë Ling, project executive, said:

“We were delighted to deliver a record collection of food to those that need it the most. We have been doing our annual collection for the food bank for many years now and our mission has always been the same – to reach out to those in need and do our bit for the community.”
