Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, has welcomed its 100,000th visitor – just days after opening for the 2017 season.
Julia Davies, of Bluebell Close, Pembrokeshire, was among the 1,500 visitors to Lido Ponty during its opening weekend, she said:
“We had a great time at Lido Ponty, such a fabulous day and amazing facilities – we will definitely be coming back this summer,” she said.
“The sky was blue and the water was lovely and warm. What a brilliant outdoor family attraction.”
Lido Ponty is open for the Easter school holidays, until Sunday, April 23. It then reopens for the summer on May 27 until September 10.
Visitors are able to book their swim sessions and activities online and in advance, with limited spaces also being made available daily at our Reception Desk. Please note: Bookings cannot be made over the telephone.
Children under the age of 16 will again be able to swim FREE at Lido Ponty in 2017, with a minimal charge of £1 for adults and £2.50 for activities. This is in response to feedback from the public following the success of the facility and its popularity during good weather and school holidays.
As well as the opportunity for lane swimming and more relaxed swims, and a Splash Pool for the little ones, there will once again be a whole host of activities on offer at Lido Ponty throughout the season. From fun inflatables to Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz, there will be something for everyone.
Lido Ponty, situated in the picturesque Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, is Wales’ premier outdoor water attraction for all the family, offering something for all ages.
Open daily 7:30am to 7:15pm, starting with lane swimming sessions followed by casual swim and activities session, Lido Ponty has three heated swimming pools (main pool, activity pool and splash pool) offering great opportunities for families, dedicated swimmers, social swimmers and thrill-seekers of all ages and abilities, whatever the weather.
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the original opening of the lido at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park in Pontypridd, on July 30, 1927. The £6.3m Grade II listed outdoor family water attraction officially re-opened to the public on August 29, 2015.
The Waterside Café, open all year around, offers many mouth-watering delights on its menu for all ages and culinary tastes.
Lido Play, the childrens’ adventure park which is also open all year around, captures the imagination of younger visitors as they explore the swings, slides and tunnels in this locally-themed attraction celebrating our industrial past.
Lido Ponty is open to the public until Sunday, April 23. It will then be open fully for the 2017 summer season from Saturday, May 27, to Sunday, September 10.
