Showcasing the Best of Welsh Business

Mid-Wales Gin Named The Independent’s Number One in List of Ten Best New Gins

Just 21 days after the Dyfi Distillery launched its Hibernation Gin, it has been named The Independent’s Number one in their list of the 10 best new gins as well as giving it their IndyBest Best Buy award.

The distillery opened at Corris Craft Centre, near Machynlleth last year and has won a host of prestigious awards with its three gin releases. Their most recent, Hibernation Gin, draws heavily upon ingredients foraged in the local UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere Reserve and is believed to be the world’s first gin aged in a 100-year old white port barrel.

Co-founder Danny Cameron said:

“Pete and I are both humbled and delighted by this news. Hibernation Gin is a world-first in terms of this very specific barrel-ageing and it’s an amazing compliment.”

The 100-year old white port barrel was kindly donated as a leaving present to Danny by the prestigious port house of Niepoort, where he had spent many years working.

The Dyfi Distillery shop is one of nine studios at Corris Craft Centre and opens daily from 10am to 5pm.
