The closing date for entries is Friday, January 12 and the national awards ceremony will be held on March 8 at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport. From the entries, regional winners will be chosen for Mid Wales to go forward to the national final.

The awards are hosted by Visit Wales to celebrate the best of the tourism industry, showcasing Wales’ tourism businesses and the industry’s achievements.

Mr Hughson, who is chief executive of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, said the awards were a great opportunity to showcase Mid Wales businesses and individual achievements.

He said:

“As chairman of the Mid Wales Regional Tourism Forum, I want to see a strong list of entries going forward from this area to promote the quality product that we have on offer here,”

Rowland Rees-Evans, MWT Cymru’s chairman, also encouraged the organisation’s 600 members to enter saying:

“We have some really strong contenders for all categories so let’s make sure we really shine at next year’s national awards,”

The categories are: best hotel, best B&B, best self-catering, best caravan, camping or glamping, best attraction, best activity, best event, best place to eat, best destination, young tourism person of the year and tourism business innovation award.
