Merthyr Community Fund Reopens for Summer Nominations

Following the launch of St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s Community Fund at the beginning of the year, the centre is once again giving away £500 worth of vouchers, but this time to help a group organise a summer event or activity.

St Tydfil Shopping Centre is asking schools, charities and clubs in the Merthyr area to get in contact and nominate themselves to receive £250 to spend at Iceland and £250 for use at Wilko.

Julie Calderbank, Operations Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented:

“We had a fantastic response to our first St Tydfil Cares Community Fund donation, which asked groups to tell us why they need help to spruce up an area of the town, and we’re certain this giveaway will be equally as popular.

“This time the vouchers are to help a charity, group or school host a summer event or put on a summer based activity for the benefit of the community.  The fund is our way of giving something back to the local area and we look forward to learning how people need our help.”

Nominations can be made by emailing [email protected] or by sending a letter to St Tydfil Community Fund, c/o PMW Communications, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon, EX39 9DU. Groups simply need to explain what summer project they would like support for. The closing date for nominations is Friday 30th June, then one group will be chosen to receive the £500 worth of vouchers.

Before the end of the year, St Tydfil Shopping Centre will giving away further Community Fund donations to a local school or group so they can update a library or craft facilities and to a group looking to spread festive cheer with a community focused Christmas celebration.
