They say the best things in life are free and Cardiff shoppers couldn’t have agreed more when new loyalty app Memberoo rewarded them with free ice cream in honour of its city centre launch last week.

Customers headed to the iconic Castle Arcade to the popular dessert venue Science Cream, one of the first 25 Cardiff city venues to partner with the new reward scheme. The liquid nitrogen ice creams Science Cream is famed for proved to be in high demand, as over 120 free scoops were distributed to Cardiffians who downloaded and signed up to use the app on the day.

As queues trailed out of the door and poured onto Castle Street, one of the first customers to take advantage of the app, Quench Food & Drink editor, Nadine Pinnock said:

“The launch has been so much fun and we felt like excited children watching our ice-cream being made. It’s been a really exciting look into what Memberoo offers and it’s very promising for foodies in Cardiff!”

The event, entitled #somethingbetterishere, drew crowds of over a hundred, who gathered to get the scoop on the city’s latest loyalty app. Having successfully established itself in Bath, Memberoo will now be bringing a new kind of loyalty to Cardiff which rewards users for their continued custom at, and engagement with their favourite city hangouts and services.

With almost 3,000 users in both locations already, Memberoo CEO, Emma Smith, said:

“It’s amazing to be in the position to bring our app to the city of Cardiff and we’re absolutely thrilled and delighted that the launch was received so well by Cardiffians who are evidently as keen to support local businesses as we are.

“We’re also really excited to be opening our regional sales and marketing hub in Newport and seeing Memberoo bring the magic of online referrals to the high street – traditional ideas of loyalty are no more, so we’ve created an app that will help draw customers back to businesses again and again as they see the rewards it brings.”
