Armed Forces Week is underway across Wales and the United Kingdom as people from all walks of life commemorate and celebrate past and present Service personnel.
This weekend, the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Wales engagement teams will be spread far and wide to meet as many members of the public as we can.
If you’re interested in learning more about the armed forces community and our work, there are numerous opportunities to find us face-to-face in North and South West Wales.
FRIDAY 29 JUNE – SSAFA GALA DINNER, VENUE CYMRU
A formal Gala Dinner will be held on Friday 29 June at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.
It’s being hosted by Conwy County Borough Council and their charity partner for the event will be SSAFA, the UK’s oldest national tri-service military charity.
The Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Wales is very pleased to be attending. Our engagement team will be available during the networking opportunities to discuss how your business can partner with Defence.
SATURDAY 30 JUNE – ARMED FORCES DAY, LLANDUDNO PROMENADE
There will be around 300 Armed Forces Day celebrations held across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on Saturday.
Every year, a different town or city has hosted the UK national Armed Forces Day event. This year, it’s being held on Llandudno Promenade and RFCA for Wales are delighted to join tens of thousands of people in the sunshine.
Our stand will be based in the military village, amongst the armed forces units and cadet organisations. The engagement and senior management teams will be on hand to talk about RFCA for Wales’ work throughout the country, which enables reserves and cadets to reach their true potential.
More than 1,000 past and present Service personnel, reservists and cadets will take part in a parade, which will be led – for the first time – by Fusilier Shenkin IV, the new regimental goat of Third Battalion The Royal Welsh in his maiden public appearance.
There will also be a full programme of outstanding displays and activities from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, including the Red Arrows and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Click here to find the full programme.
North Wales has a strong regular and reserve military ties. It is home to RAF Valley, the national fast jet training hub for RAF Pilots, and a reported 10,000 veterans work and live in Conwy.
SUNDAY 1 JULY – WALES AIR SHOW, SWANSEA BAY
RFCA for Wales will also be attending the Wales Air Show in Swansea Bay on Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1 2018.
Our stall will be based by the 360 Beach and Water Sports Centre in Swansea Bay, right next to the unmissable No 3 Welsh Wing RAF Air Cadets.
The free event will feature displays from the Red Arrows, Eurofighter Typhoon and Tigers Parachute Display Team. Click here to find out more about the Wales Air Show.
