Over 40,000 people have already enjoyed the stunning National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, since it re-opened for the 2019 season – travelling from as far as Devon, Essex and Oxfordshire.

As the long Summer holidays begin, it is expected that thousands more will visit the flagship attraction, which is the only one of its kind in South Wales and offers a great day out for families, avid swimmers and heritage lovers alike.

Prices for 2019 have been frozen by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, meaning under 16s swim for free and it’s just £2 for adult swimmers.

The ever-popular inflatable obstacle course, water zorbs and water peddlerz have also made a return for 2019, and, again, activity prices have been frozen from last year at just £2.50 for an hour and a half.

Latest figures released at the end of the Summer school term show that 40,000 people have visited Lido Ponty for a swim in the relaxing, heated, open air pools and 10,000 have enjoyed inflatable activities.

Councillor Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said:

The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, remains one of the most popular attractions in South Wales and we are pleased to welcome visitors from all corners of the UK to a facility we are very proud of.

“Over 306,000 people have now been through the doors since we re-opened the Lido in 2015, and this in itself is a huge testament to the popularity and appeal that this unique and wonderful facility has.

“It is a stunning restoration of the Lido that has stood in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park since 1927 and now has a modern twist that entices visitors of all ages.

“Come rain or shine, the three pools at Lido Ponty remain heated to 28 degrees, so swimmers can enjoy the warm waters – plus a hot shower in heated changing rooms afterwards if the weather is not perfect.

“Of course, when the sun is shining, it is lovely to see so many people enjoying the Mediterranean-esque atmosphere of Lido Ponty, with the patio area and the Art Deco features.

“So many people are loving Lido Ponty, from early morning swimmers and fitness lovers to parents who are bringing their toddlers to play in the warm splash pool with fountains.

“We are now entering the busy school holiday period, where inflatable activities will be on offer every day from 10am so the pools will be filled with young people and families enjoying their Lido Ponty.

“Whatever time you visit, there is always space for lane swimming and the dedicated early morning swim sessions continue in the week.”

The National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, is open for Summer, you can book your session online now, up to seven days in advance to help you plan your visit.

There are also tickets for each of the day’s sessions held at reception and these can be collected on a first come, first served basis from 9am each morning.
