Designed to encourage new learners to feel more confident and relaxed when attending Taff’s courses, the welcome week is a chance for individuals to meet other learners and make friends ahead of courses at Taff Housing Association. It is hoped that this will encourage socialising among different groups of people and enable individuals to feel more a part of their community.
Taff offers free training to their Tenants, service users and members of the local community as part of their ‘Building Futures’ programme. The programme offers accredited training, along with soft skills training to encourage individuals to access work, further education and higher education whilst also developing confidence and reducing isolation. The programme also delivers volunteer placements.
When talking about the building futures programme, Clare Dickinson, a Community Investment Officer at Taff who is responsible for community training and volunteering said
‘At Taff, we don’t just build homes, we build futures. Committed to raising aspirations, our careers programme called ‘Building Futures’ provides a holistic programme of courses to link with local employment shortages and volunteer placements that provide practical experience. Everything we offer supports learners throughout their individual jobs journey’.
