A Welsh housing association, which was the subject of a government review into mismanagement, has announced its intention to merge. Cymdeithas Tai Cantref has announced it is seeking a merger partner and said it hopes to complete the process “in a timely manner”.
It follows a Welsh Government-commissioned report into the 1,700-home landlord, which uncovered mismanagement issues. Former chief executive Lynne Sacale was placed on indefinite leave and eventually left the organisation as a result.
Following the review, Tai Cantref’s board of management has now decided to seek a merger partner.
Kevin Taylor, interim chair at Tai Cantref, said: “As we seek a merger partner we certainly won’t be standing still and will continue to implement changes recommended within the recent review to ensure Cantref is as strong as possible when engaging with potential partners.”
