Leading Insurance company Admiral has created almost 200 jobs at its Cardiff branch. The 193 new posts have become available owing to a £668,500 grant from the Welsh Government’s Business Finance Scheme.
As part of a growth strategy, the sales vacancies are an element of Admiral’s transition into the personal lending market. The move will pave the way for the company to offer various new products and services, such as car finance and personal loans which will be operated online.
The insurance giant is one of the UK’s biggest employers and has around 9,000 members of staff across eight countries, with over 6,000 of these based in Wales. Over 3,000 employees work from the head office in Cardiff and almost 2,000 in Swansea. The centrally-based Newport office employs over 900 people. The company was established in 1993 and has over four million customers. It is also Wales’ only FTSE listed company.
Admiral Chief Financial Officer, Geraint Jones, commented;
“Wales is one of the fastest growing financial services centres in the UK and Admiral is delighted to be able to launch its new venture into the lending market here in our home city of Cardiff.”
The news has also been welcomed by The Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure Ken Skates;
“Admiral is committed to expanding its operations in Wales. We appreciate its continued presence as a major employer here, and consider this funding a worthwhile investment.
Welsh Government funding for this new range of products ensured the jobs are created and stay in Wales. I congratulate Admiral on its continued growth and job creation which is a great advertisement for service delivery in Wales”.
Adding to its accolades, the firm has been awarded ‘Best UK Car Insurance Provider’ for the last four the years, by the Personal Finance Awards.
