A popular series of 10K running events is making a return for 2023.  The R4W 10K Series is a unique collection of iconic road races taking place across four unique locations in South Wales.

Following a period of pandemic delay, all four events will return to their traditional spots in the calendar, kick-starting with the new-look Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K on Sunday 26 March. The race is Wales’ largest 10K event and boasts a course taking in all of the Welsh capital’s most iconic waterfront landmarks.

The fast and run ABP Newport Wales 10K is next up on Sunday 16 April. It adds an exciting extra dimension to the ABP Newport Wales Marathon and gives runners of all abilities the opportunity to be a part of one of Wales’ biggest weekend’s of running without committing to the challenging 26.2 mile distance.

From the cities to the sea, the third and fourth legs of the R4W 10K Series bring festivals of running to two of Wales’ best-loved coastal resorts. First up is the Porthcawl 10K on Sunday 2 July, an exciting race in the town known for surf, sports and walks. The race takes in a number of landmarks including Rest Bay, Trecco Bay, Coney Bay, the historic Grand Pavilion and iconic Porthcawl lighthouse.

Sun, sea and sand provide the backdrop to the final leg of the series at the Barry Island 10K, which will take place on Sunday 6 August in 2023. The race offers a varied yet rewarding route showcasing all of the town’s most scenic seaside spots including Whitmore Bay, the Knap, Romilly Park and Watch House Bay.

The events offer a high quality of event experience and organisation and are delivered by Run 4 Wales (R4W), the events team behind the Cardiff Half Marathon, one of the UK’s largest mass participation events.

All four events also offer a series of supporting Junior races, giving runners of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get involved in a Toddler Dash, Fun Run or competitive Future Challengers race.

Entries are now available, with a limited number of discounted Multi-Event Passes on offer for those interested in registering for two or more of the 10K races. These are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are expected to sell out fast. They offer savings of up to 25% when committing to multiple races in 2023.
