GWLAD Creates New and Innovative Work-based Learning Pathways for Leadership

Award Winning Leadership

The future of work-based learning programmes looks exciting as GWLAD, an award winning project, creates new and innovative work-based learning pathways for leadership.

Since the start of 2016, GWLAD has continued to develop skills across South West Wales. A partnership between GWLAD and care home Fieldbay Ltd has been recognised with an award from the South West Wales CIPD branch for Outstanding Achievement in Employment and Training Opportunities and has been shortlisted for the UALL award. GWLAD’s industry expert lecturers developed four accredited modules, covering all aspects of Leadership.

Aldo Picek, Training Manager at Fieldbay said,

“Outside recognition of the GWLAD team’s work with Fieldbay is important to us. Our Leadership Academy has taken a lot of dedicated hard work from both organisations and we are already planning for our next cohort! This will spur us on”

The learners also agree – “I’m really enjoying leadership. I’ve grown in confidence as a leader” said one participant, while another commented that the course had given them invaluable skills that they didn’t have before.

These modules have also been tailored to suit the needs of a local food wholesalers, Castell Howell who also collaborated with GWLAD to tailor the leadership programme to their needs. These modules are available to all organisations under the GWLAD project with up-to 70% funding. Learners implement all learning into the workplace to promote positive outcomes within the organisation.

GWLAD is managed by Wales Institute for Work-Based Learning (WIWBL) through the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and supported by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

Organisations need to take advantage of GWLAD, which offers a unique opportunity of up-to 70% funding for businesses and not for profit organisations to undertake work-based learning programmes. This funding has already created positive outcomes for businesses in the area, so contact the GWLAD team to speak to the programme tutors for further information or tailoring to suit your needs 01267 225157 [email protected]
