Business people from across Wales with exporting interests received ample advice from industry experts at the Wales Export Conference held on the 15th February at Cardiff City Stadium.
The Welsh Government event provided attendees with a range of information and advice on all aspects of exporting. First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones opened the event, with Economy Secretary Ken Skates also speaking at the conference. Both spoke of the various opportunities exporting offers to Welsh businesses and the fantastic support available from the Welsh Government for those with exporting ambitions.
New and existing exporters were presented with a keynote speech from Paul Langley, managing director of Wales’ leading foreign exchange (FX) company, Godi Financial. Mr Langley spoke of issues surrounding managing currency fluctuations and the importance of having a robust currency hedging strategy in place when exporting to minimise risk around currency movement.
The event also enabled visitors to attend seminars, participate in round table and pop-up discussions, engage with a range of public and private sector organisations offering services to exporters, as well as seek one-to-one advice from export experts and advisors.
Paul Langley, managing director of Godi Financial, said:
“The Wales Export Conference is a fantastic Welsh Government event and we are very pleased to have contributed this year. Business leaders are often reluctant to begin exporting, and this has been intensified with the uncertainty surrounding Brexit and how it will impact the economic and political landscape. However, the knowledge shared at the Wales Export Conference has offered Welsh businesses looking to begin their exporting ventures with the confidence and know-how to become successful exporters and expand their business.
“Our focus is on educating our clients about currency volatility and how to implement a FX strategy and hedging policy that mitigates risk when dealing with new markets. Godi has worked with businesses all across the country that are now successfully exporting and trading internationally. We hope our input and that of other specialists at the Wales Export Conference will help show business leaders the many opportunities exporting offers.”
