This department, that has received £60m of Welsh Government capital investment, is the largest construction project at Morriston Hospital. It provides a new main entrance to the hospital, with a retail area, an Integrated Education centre and a wide range of accommodation to support other outpatient services.
Services transferred into the new building include adult and paediatric outpatients, fracture clinic, radiology, pre-assessment clinics, head and neck services, cleft lip and palate, a maxillofacial lab, phlebotomy, lung function, endoscopy suites and a renal dialysis unit. The integrated Education Unit will act as ‘hub’ for learning and professional development of staff and students. It will be equipped with a clinical skills lab, a dental lab and a ward environment to support student training.
