Facilities management firm celebrates apprentice success

DRS Facilities Management, a company that provides specialist engineering solutions to the facilities management sector, is celebrating the success of one of its apprentices, who has won the Swansea and West Wales Apprentice of the Year Award.

Tom Dewitt from Birchgrove in Swansea was presented the award at the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) Specifiers Conference in Cardiff Bay on 23 October. The accolade is awarded to apprentices aged under 25 who have achieved a NVQ level 3 in either installing and commissioning electrotechnical systems, electrotechnical services installation – buildings and structures, or electrical maintenance, and who demonstrate outstanding performance as an apprentice.

Tom Dewitt, award winner and apprentice at DRS Facilities Management, said:

“I’m so happy to have won the Apprentice of the Year award. I really wasn’t expecting it, so it was such a surprise when I found out I had won. I’m so grateful to all the help I have had from DRS. I wouldn’t be an award winner if it wasn’t for the company and its support.”

Andy Woods, Director of DRS Facilities Management, said:

“We are delighted that Tom has received such a prestigious industry award as one of our apprentices and would like to congratulate him on his success. He has proved himself as a dedicated and hardworking apprentice and it is pleasing to see his efforts recognised, and for him to be identified as the best apprentice in the Swansea and West Wales region.”

“Apprenticeships are extremely important in the facilities management industry because they provide the future leaders of the sector. For this reason we invest a lot of time and money in our apprentices at DRS and each individual has thorough training and mentoring to get them to where they want to be as a skilled worker in the facilities management arena.”
