A community engagement event in Monmouth this week will aim to bring residents and local groups together to build new relationships and strengthen existing networks to benefit the town and local area.  Organised on behalf of the local community it will take place from 4:30pm to 8pm on Wednesday, 27th March in Monmouth Comprehensive School and will include funding bodies, voluntary and third-sector organisations, communities and statutory bodies. It follows the success of similar occasions in Abergavenny and Chepstow.

The event will raise awareness of the excellent support – including advice, guidance, funding, and training opportunities – offered to volunteers and community groups while introducing organisations seeking funding to those providing it.  It will also provide an opportunity to thank individuals for the area’s impressive volunteer-based activity.

In addition, the meeting will identify members of a core steering group to produce and deliver a Vision for Monmouth plan to support community initiatives.

Monmouthshire County Council’s cabinet member for community development, Councillor Sara Jones said:

“We’re aiming for an informal gathering and welcome the participation of anyone who lives or works in the area with its best interests at heart.  We want to get as many together as possible, knowing that through talking to each other, great ideas can result.”

Anyone wishing to attend can reserve a place by visiting https://www.facebook.com/events/1188529647985996/ though organisers will also welcome those arriving on the evening.
