Coppergate Swansea is a £17m new build student accommodation project. The development comprises of 310 bedrooms spread across a 14-storey tower block. It also has two 6-storey wings. The central courtyard is set inside a horseshoe formation, with the building featuring a reception area, substantial bike storage and several commercial spaces. The development also offers panoramic views over Swansea and Mumbles.

RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services has been appointed to undertake the full design, supply and installation works of all the site’s electrical and mechanical services. The contract is worth approximately £2.5m to the Swansea-based company.

Work on the project began in March 2018, with the topping out ceremony taking place on 10 April 2019. The ceremony, hosted by Create Construction and Crosslane Student Developments, marked the achievement of the building reaching its maximum height. The project will be completed in September, ahead of the start of the 2019/20 academic year.

Dave Kieft, director and co-owner of RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services, said:

“It is fantastic to be working on yet another high-profile project in our home city of Swansea. Our vast experience in this area is proving extremely valuable to our portfolio and has expanded our working relationship to such an esteemed firm as Create Construction. We look forward to seeing the final result of this impressive development later this year.”
