The SME Business Awards are returning to Wales to celebrate the success of small but mighty businesses over the last year. Finalists have been shortlisted after receiving hundreds of nominations and will take part in the award ceremony on Wednesday 30th October at the Exchange Hotel in Cardiff.

The Awards honour the contributions made by SME entrepreneurs and businesses across Wales. It will give thanks to SME businesses for serving their communities, for implementing creative approaches to product design and service and for staying true to their roots.

Egni Coop/Awel Aman Tawe (AAT) based in Neath Port Talbot is a finalist in the Social Inclusion category.

Rosie Gillam and Dan McCallum, Egni’s Directors said

“Egni Coop/AAT is currently undertaking the largest rollout of rooftop solar in Welsh history. We’re now raised £1.1m from our Share Offer and are installing at the moment on nine sites: Queen’s Hall Narbeth, Pontypridd Precision  Engineering in Ferndale, Cwmgors Energy Centre, Pontus Ltd in Hirwaun, Hirwaun Community Centre, East Williamston Community Hall, Glasdir Conference Centre, Cadoxton Community Centre and Owain Glyndwr Community Centre – a range of community buildings and also forward-thinking Welsh businesses who are committed to tackling climate change and reducing their energy overheads by working with us. These installs add to our existing seven sites which have been operating well since 2014.  In the pipeline are many more community buildings and businesses. We want to achieve our ambition to ‘solarise’ Wales.

We have a great track record in social inclusion – over 800 people from local schools and community groups took part in our Moon Mission at Pontardawe Arts Centre in October to raise awareness of climate change and Egni’s solar share offer.

Irfan Younis CEO of Creative Oceanic said:

“We are delighted to bring the SME Business Awards back to Wales for the second year. These awards will give thanks to small business owners and provide them with a platform to be recognised for all the great work they do. Best of luck to all finalists, we look forward to celebrating with you on the night.”
