E.G.Lewis Group, a South Wales based specialist industrial contractor, is proud to announce that Mind Cymru, which exists to make sure anyone in Wales experiencing a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support, as their latest official charity.

All the money raised from September 2019 onwards, is to be donated to Mind Cymru, to support the charity. One of its priorities is to support the network of 20 local Minds to deliver services in communities around Wales. Local Minds offer direct support to people with mental health problems, including drop-in centres, counselling services and community projects.

The Charity of The Year announcement took place as part of the group’s monthly edition of its employee well-being partnership alongside Llandarcy Academy of Sport and Resolution Strength & Conditioning. The aim of Fitness within the Workplace (FWTW) is to create an environment for all participants to relieve stress, anxiety and other mental health issues along with team bonding whilst building each individuals physical strength and conditioning abilities.

Ben Jenkins, Business Development & Marketing Co-ordinator at E.G.Lewis Group, said:

“We are delighted to announce Mind Cymru as our 2019 Charity of the Year. The charity does fantastic work every year to help the people of Wales break the stigma that surrounds of mental health and we hope the money that we raise throughout the year will allow Mind Cymru to help even more people in our Welsh communities.”

Lucy Lloyd, Senior Community Fundraising Officer at Mind Cymru, added:

“I am delighted E.G.Lewis Group has chosen to support Mind. It’s wonderful to see organisations taking an interest in their employees wellbeing at work. We know that one in six workers experience common mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and stress. Supporting charities like ourselves not only raise vital funds but also raises awareness and helps to support the mental health of staff.”

Back in December 2018, we committed to changing the way we all think and act about mental health in the workplace by signing an employer pledge with Time to Change Wales, the growing social movement run by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness which supports people to open up to mental health problems.

In 2018, E.G.Lewis Group raised £629.00 for its Charity of the Year, Velindre Cancer Centre.
