Double Success for College at Wales’ Premier Hair and Beauty Event

A learner from Gower College, Swansea, whose ambition is to become a bridal make-up artist, celebrated victory in one of the competitions at Wales’ premier hair and beauty event in Cardiff on Sunday.

Nadia Begum, 23, who works as a teaching assistant and carer, won the level two make-up competition with her model Kinge Lazienkiewicz at Salon Cymru, which attracted around 500 competitors and spectators to Y Plas, Cardiff University’s Students’ Union.

Salon Cymru is organised by Bridgend-based ISA Training, the largest independent and hair and beauty training provider in Wales. Top hairdressing and beauty talent from across Wales attended the dynamic annual event in the capital to showcase their creative skills.

Nadia revealed that she entered the competition for experience after being recommended by her college tutor.

“It’s the first thing I have ever won,” she said. “My ambition is to be a bridal make-up artist in the future.”

Fellow Gower College learner Katie Evans was second in the competition.
