Muse Developments Ltd. has been chosen as the preferred development partner for town centre re-development.
Conwy County Borough Council has chosen a development partner to provide new office accommodation in the centre of Colwyn Bay and to redevelop the Civic Centre building to the east of the town.
Muse Developments Ltd. has been chosen following a competitive procurement process that attracted significant interest from national developers and investors.
The final decision was made yesterday [29/09/15] following in-depth discussions at a series of meetings of Council members.
Council Leader, Cllr Dilwyn Roberts said, “I’m delighted to announce the Council will be working with Muse on this exciting project. It’s been a very thorough process; we considered previous experience, financial and technical capacity, as well as evidence of partnership working, social values and other statutory obligations. We were determined to find the right development partner to help us achieve our goals.”
Over recent years the Council has been reviewing its buildings and looking at ways to operate more efficiently and improve services for customers, by consolidating staff and services onto fewer sites.
New office accommodation in the centre of Colwyn Bay could potentially replace up to thirteen existing offices and reduce the Council’s accommodation and carbon footprint.
With an investment of over £25million by Muse’s investor partner M&G, this new development is a key part of the Council’s commitment to regenerate Colwyn Bay town centre.
Cllr Roberts, added, “Bringing people into the heart of a town, brings vitality, footfall and spend. We feel passionately this development is right for Conwy County Borough.”
