Company in South Wales Develops Innovative Monitor Stand to Reduce Injury at Work

Innovative monitor stand reduces neck & back injuries at work

In 2013/2014 a staggering 28.2 million working days were lost due to work-related illness, and £14.2 billion was the estimated cost of injuries and ill health from poor working conditions in the UK. Realising these staggering figures, one company in South Wales has created a product that not only keeps personal belongings safe, but complies with health and safety guidelines in the workplace, in an effort to drive down sickness across the country.

The Desk Safe, a lockable product made by The Safety Letterbox Company based in Neath, is placed as a stand for a computer monitor, enabling it to sit at the correct height, in line with the user’s eye level. This reduces the risk of injuries to the neck and shoulder due to poor posture from looking down at a screen and slouching, whilst providing a secure home for items in the workplace. Every year in Britain there are over 200,000 cases of work-related upper limb disorders, such as thoracic outlet syndrome, with an estimated 3.2 million working days lost, and each person taking on average 15.9 working days off to deal with their injuries.
