Commercial vehicle specialist wins prestigious Business Transformation of the Year accolade at the 10th annual Auto Trader Click Awards

LCV dealer David Spear has been named Business Transformation of the Year (Independents) at this year’s Auto Trader Click Awards.

The awards, which marked its 10th anniversary this year, is well known for acknowledging true, peer-inspiring industry leaders within the automotive sector. Winners received their accolades at a glittering ceremony held at Banking Hall in London and presented by Auto Trader Group Sales Director Le Etta Pearce, BBC Breakfast Business Reporter Steph McGovern and fellow Group Sales Director Darren Moon.

“This is a massive statement about our business success and our desire to embrace digital technology in order to meet our customers’ needs and drive our business forward. We are proud and honoured to win the accolade, and gain recognition for our hard work and high customer care quality standards,” said Owner David Spear, who celebrated the opening of the firm’s second site in Cardiff earlier this year.

Alongside the title Digital Innovator of the Year, the Business Transformation of the Year category was judged by a panel of digital experts representing companies such as Google, LinkedIn, Vodafone, ZPG and global advertiser HAVAS. Winners of other categories, including Data Driven Retailer of the Year, Best Performing Retailer on Auto Trader, Best Digital Customer Experience and Digital Retailer of the Year, were determined thanks to the opinions of some 10,000 car buyers. 160 million data points were collated via Auto Trader’s website to decide this year’s Click Awards winners.

“We never expected this result because of the competition that exists but winning the Business Transformation of the Year title gives us tremendous confidence in our business plan and our desire to be recognised as the UK’s leading independent van dealer,” concluded David.

Laurence has spent most of his career in the media industry working in senior management roles with major publishers including Thomson Regional Newspapers, United News & Media and The Newsquest Media Group.

In 2001 Laurence left the corporate publishing world and after a 3-year spell in pharmaceuticals he set up on his own. In 2005 he created Swansea Life & Swansea Bay Business Life, two highly successful magazines now fully established in their respective markets, and since acquired by the Trinity Mirror Group.

In 2010 he stepped outside of the publishing bubble and set up a full service media agency specialising in PR, Advertising & Marketing, with a series of offices along the M4 corridor helping to develop regional campaigns for successful brands such as Las Iguanas, Andrew Scott and a wide portfolio of well-known law firms.

Outside of the media, Laurence travels extensively as a keynote speaker, talking about his experiences as a service and people expert. His ability to inspire audiences has resulted in him working with a number of international brands, including P&G, Kellogg’s, Dunelm and Armstrong. He has also penned a book entitled ‘Live Your Life’, which has become an essential guide to personal and business success for many.

In his spare time, he relaxes with his family, is an avid Chelsea fan, works out at the gym and enjoys walks on the Gower beaches with his beautiful Labrador Frankie (named after Frank Lampard of course!).
