A first-of-its-kind creative-digital celebration is set to hit north Wales, championing the sector and showcasing innovation.

Creative North is hosting the celebratory event, with fantastic speakers from the BBC and BAFTA Cymru, to raise the profile of the sector across the region.  Creative North is a network supporting, lobbying for and championing creative-digital businesses in north Wales. The sector encompasses film and television, digital, and live events, and the network is excited about celebrating these in its first ever award ceremony!

Iestyn Garlick, Chairman of the Network, said

“As Chair of Creative North I encourage you to come to the Event to see what is available on your doorstep, so to speak, and to support and learn about the Creative Sector”

The celebration night will become an annual event, and at the inaugural ceremony attendees will have the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and hear from fantastic speakers.  These speakers include BAFTA Cymru’s Nerys Evans, Gerwyn Evans from Creative Wales, and the BBC!  BBC Wales will take the opportunity to announce the winner of their ‘Our Lives’ commission, and show the winning pilot from the north-Wales winner.   The ‘Our Lives’ series was an exciting collaboration between BBC Wales and Creative North at the end of 2022, and gave Welshfilmmakers a chance to pitch their idea to the BBC to be used as part of their ‘Our Lives’ series.

Garffild Lloyd Lewis a member of the Creative Wales Board says

“I am extremely proud that the Creative North network has organized an event to celebrate the success and talents of the creative sector here in North Wales.”

Chris Payne from Quantumsoup, a Digital business, says

“This is a great opportunity to network with specialists from adjacent sectors, and digital skills are extremely transferable. You might find a surprising opportunity!”

The north Wales creative companies shortlisted for this event include Wicked Wales who support young people interested in the creative industries, Haia a live and hybrid events platform, On-Set Facilities using the latest technologies for film and media, Fran Wen a Welsh language drama company, Pontio and Galeri local live events venues, Rondo Media a local film company making shows such as Rownd a Rownd and many more!

Garffild continues by stating

“This event will be an opportunity to socialise, and meet the officers and members of Creative Wales and hear about the Welsh Government's work and support for the industry in North Wales and Wales as a whole.”

The project is headed by Gwynedd Council, with support from all the north Wales county councils and Grwp Llandrillo Menai.  Funded by the Welsh Government, the network has recently been re-branded, launched a new website, and changed its membership structure to further enable support for the Creative-Digital sector.

This event is open to all and is free to attend, held in Theatr Clwyd in Mold on the 2nd of February 6-8.  come along to learn more about the network and the support available to you or your business, good luck and congratulations to all who have been nominated. We look forward to seeing you there to join the fun. You can reserve yourself a space for this event here: https://gwobrau-creiadigol.eventbrite.co.uk
