Cardiff Music Awards Return To Celebrate the Welsh Capital’s Music Scene

The date for the third Cardiff Music Awards and Cardiff’s biggest night for music has been announced as 29th March 2019. The prestigious event will again be held at Tramshed, one of Cardiff’s most acclaimed music venues from 18:00-23:00. Tickets are just £15, which includes a fresh and fruity free cocktail on entry from Barti Rum, one of the event’s sponsors.

The awards have an overall aim to recognise the achievements, success and talents of musicians, organisations and individuals who have helped enhance Cardiff’s unique and diverse music scene. Cardiff Music Awards has become a huge event and date in the city’s calendar, bringing together and celebrating the best of Cardiff’s musical talent. With over 2500 nominations and 15,000 votes cast in 2018, the awards reflect what is currently thriving musically in the Cardiff.

Last year’s event featured performances from HMS Morris, Afrocluster and Rainbow Maniac and 2019’s line up promises to be bursting with the same fantastic talent from the Welsh capital. The confirmed exciting performances include:

CHROMA – the explosive three-piece opened the first Cardiff Music Awards in 2017 and have since become one of Wales’ best loved live bands with an acerbic, bilingual lyrical presence and huge live sound.

MADI – the brand new experimental pop project from Cardiff veteran Maddie Jones bring their full audio-visual experience to the Tramshed with a rare live performance in the capital.

Mace – one of Cardiff’s best loved MCs, with a huge local following and lyrics that pay homage to his hometown. Mace has huge energy and a way with words that engages audiences across the city.

HANA2K – a worldwide pop sensation from Cardiff who went from strength to strength in 2018 after joining the Forté Project and proving her worth in a host of live environments from indie rock shows to her own headline show.

DJ Jaffa – one of Cardiff’s longest running DJs with international acclaim. Jaffa's presence on the Cardiff scene is so dominant that he has received a nomination for Best DJ every year since the award’s inception.

The Cardiff Music Awards will be hosted by Best DJ winners from 2018 GRLTLK.

There will also be a street food offering from Little Marakesh who will be serving up delicious Chicken, Lamb and Vegan Shawarma wraps stuffed full of tasty couscous and fresh salad.

Nominations are now closed and voting will begin on Sunday 17th February after all the finalists are announced. Voting will then close Friday 22nd March at midnight, so make sure you cast your all-important votes! The scoring system will combine the Cardiff-based independent judges’ feedback and popular votes from the public. Every vote counts for your favourites to be in with the chance to pick up one of over 20 bespoke awards – including such categories as Best Group, Best Album, Best Breakthrough Act, Best Club Night and Outstanding Contribution of the Year to name just a few.Last year’s awards saw Tramshed bursting with talented individuals from the local music  scene, representatives from local businesses and guests from further afield. A true showcase of how loyal and supportive the Cardiff music scene is, the night really marked its growing place in the UK and the world.
