Business breakfast club proves a hit

Cardiff Metropolitan University is celebrating the launch of their brand new business breakfast club, an initiative that aims to strengthen links between local organisations and the University.

Held at the Cardiff School of Management, the event saw professionals from a range of local businesses such as Acuity Legal Ltd., Cardiff Airport, Principality and Boulders engage with the University’s leading academics.

The objective of the breakfast club was to make organisations aware of the services available to them through the University. Services include expert consultancy, bespoke education and training, access to funding opportunities, as well as student work placements.

The expert speaker was Dr Tom Crick who explored the world of data, cyber-security, privacy and social media.

Siân Rees, Associate Dean and Director of Enterprise at Cardiff Met said:

“As a University, we work very hard to create strong links with outside organisations, and have developed some great relationships with companies such as Admiral, Brains and Santander over the years.

“By engaging with local businesses, our students benefit from enhanced work experience opportunities, and businesses reap the rewards of the University’s knowledge and facilities.

“The breakfast club is a great way of gathering together professionals and academics alike to discuss how we can collaborate for mutual benefit. The first event was a success and so we hope to hold another in early 2016.”
