Cardiff Half Marathon Road Closures

With 22 000 people set to visit the Welsh Capital on Sunday for the Cardiff Half Marathon – road closures will be in place to set up and facilitate this event.

To set up the event, road closures will start to be put in place in and around the Civic Centre on Thursday and Friday – so the event organisers are ready for the event to take place on Sunday morning.

Between 5.00am on Thursday (Sept 29) and just before midnight next Monday (October 3) – the following roads will be closed:

• King Edward V11 Avenue
• College Road – Junction with Museum Avenue to the junction with King Edward V11 Avenue.

Between 5.00am on Friday (Sept 30) and just before midnight next Monday (October 3) – these additional roads will be closed:

• Museum Avenue – from the closed end with Corbett Road to the junction with Gorsedd Gardens Road
• Gorsedd Gardens Road – Junction with Park Place to the junction with Museum Avenue.
• City Hall Road – Junction with North Road to the junction with Museum Avenue.

Between 5.00am on Saturday (October 1) and midnight on Sunday (October 2) – the following roads will be closed in their entirety:

• City Hall Road
• College Road
• King Edward V11 Avenue
• Museum Avenue
• Gorsedd Gardens Road.

Between 4.30am and midnight on Sunday (October 2) – the following rod will be closed:

• North Road – Junction with Colum Road to the junction with Boulevard de Nantes.
Between 4.30am and 11.00am on Sunday (October 2) – the following roads will be closed:
• North Road – Junction with Boulevard de Nantes to the junction with the A461
• A461 – Junction with North Road to the junction with Kingsway
• Kingsway – Junction with the A461 to the junction with Duke Street
• Duke Street and Castle Street in their entirety
• Cowbridge Road East – Junction with Castle Street to the junction with Cathedral Road.

For the race, there will be a rolling road closure from 9.00am until 3.00pm on a rolling road closure. These timings are approximate but live updates will be given via @cardiffcouncil on Sunday.

• Cowbridge Road East – Junction with Cathedral Road – will close at 9.00am and re-open at 11.00am
• Wellington Street, Leckwith Road and Sloper Road – will close at 9.00am and re-open at 11.00am
• Penarth Road, Harbour Drive, will close at 9.00am and re-open between 12 Noon and 12 30pm
• Roald Dahl Place, across Bute Place, Lloyd George Avenue, Herbert Street, Tyndall Street and East Tyndall Street will close at 9.00am and will re-open at 12.45pm
• Windsor Street, Adam Street, Fitzalan Road – across Newport Road – West Grove and Richmond Road will close at 9.00am and re-open at 1.00pm
• Albany Road, Blenheim Road, Marlborough Road and Ninian Road will close at 9.00am and will re-open at 2.00pm
• Fairoak Road, Lake Road East, Lake Road West
